@ Blk 640 Bukit Batok Central, S11 Food House - Food court. Stall: Tian Tian Xiang Popiah.
Ordered my usual 2 pieces of popiah @ $1.40 each. Total : $2.40.
What’s so good 😊?
Had made acquaintance with this stall lady owner via face contact over many years. Maybe 8 years, I think 🤔
I remembered vividly as I had bought a pack of her Popiah party of 30 pieces with her ingredients separately packed, many years ago for our cell group potluck dishes contribution. Then each popiah costs just $1.00 ... 😮 we had a great time together for the DIY task, everyone from parent to children make great effort to lay out, insert ingredients, roll, slice and munch ! I had recorded a video to showcase how the process of wrapping the delectable popiah being carried out then ! 🤣
Over the years, couple of months time, whenever I am at Bukit Batok Central area, her stall magnet 🧲 also too strong for me to withhold and I shall support her each time ! That’s where I have become her “regular client” ... 😮
Nope, I do not have priority Q but I do not have to literally stand to Q, just drink my coffee ☕️ or tea 🍵 and await for my turn then she shall shout out “Xiao Di “ ... little brother, to come to collect the popiah.
There are at least basic 11 ingredients inside this popiah :
1. Lay 2 pieces of the popiah skin overlapping.
2. Sweeten sauce spread round motion
3. Add chillies 🌶, if needed.
4. Garlic fine dice🧄 spread
5. Shredded turnips and spread dry
6. Lettuce 🥬 vegetable piece
7. Add slices of cucumber 🥒
8. Add tau gek (bean sprouts)
9. Grounded peanuts for crunchiness
10. Fish crackers
11. Diced boiled eggs
12. Prawns slice pieces, if any *
13. Chinese sausages slice pieces, if any *
Note:
*: inflation cost, may reduce or may even do without it !
All these above ingredients require great co-ordination effort like one round from right to left or anti-clockwise direction; like SOP - standard procedure. 😮 🤩
Her popiah always endeared me most partly due to the people to people connectivity, familiarity, friendliness, plus her delectable food, it’s lowest cost ever for a popiah that has become the local delight, accompanying side dish during lunch or dinner or even eating on its own. It’s always a healthy choice ! Btw, It shall last me for next few hours b4 I head home ... 😮 🤩 ⭐️ 👍
For the record, of completing this article ... at least 15 people had Q for the last 30mins, that’s the rate of Q and her productivity level ! 😮
