Mathew Leong, sous chef at the highly acclaimed Restaurant À L’aise in Oslo, joins Affluent Society, a global business, lifestyle and social media owned by Platinum Circle, the world's leading business group consisting of corporations with annual revenues exceeding USD100 million, governments and intergovernmental organisations.
Mathew provides an expert voice on French cuisine in Norway, and encourages greater collaboration and cooperation between food, culinary talents, diners, producers and Affluent Society as his official social media.
Mathew serves as a contributor to Affluent Society, sharing his slice of gastronomy with readers and followers as part of the media's Food Craving Series and his personal Bocuse d’Or journey. He will also be a guest judge and critic in the media's Eat the World Singapore Edition as a Singaporean working in Norway.
"I am honored to be a member of Affluent Society and its youngest culinary voice among industry veterans. I'm also excited by this rare opportunity to introduce the culinary arts to a broad, diverse and influential global audience, and invite fellow chefs and diners to engage the Affluent Society community," said Mathew.
"We are delighted to work with Mathew as part of our engagement with talented individuals in the culinary world. He is one of the youngest chef to make it all the way to the Bocuse d’Or finals in Lyon, France, and we look forward to following him in his journey" said Ashley Sim, Associate Editor of Affluent Society.
Lionel Lee, Advisor to Affluent Society added, "Affluent Society's engagement with Mathew is also one of support. Unlike Scandinavian chefs who receive sponsorship to compete in Bocuse d’Or, this young man from Singapore is on his own. With the help from Ulrik Jepsen, his coach and co-owner of À L’aise, he juggles daily work and training seven days a week with no days off. His dedication and persistence is exemplary. As a foreign professional living and working in Oslo, Mathew may also uncover some interesting sights to share with everyone".
