Love Story: Allan Timlin, Newfoundland, Canada

Newfoundland: Even though I grew up in Canada I only recently discovered Newfoundland or, “the Rock”, on the country’s extreme east coast. What I love most about the island is the clean, fresh and cool air blowing in off the Atlantic. I can walk for miles, often in solitude, along the vast coastline and truly connect with nature. Hikers there are treated to whales, icebergs (in season) and plenty of beautiful, well-kept historical lighthouses. I love the fresh cod, crab and lobster served in quaint restaurants with plenty of local brews by some of the friendliest folk I have ever met.

Allan Timlin: After starting my career in public accounting with Coopers & Lybrand in Toronto, Canada I decided to venture off into industry when I joined Saab Automobile at its factory in Trollhattan, Sweden. That was the start of what has become a very exciting international lifestyle. Over the years I’ve had the opportunity to work in both factory and headquarter Finance roles in several countries including Switzerland, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. I’ve been fortunate to work with so many diverse and interesting people along the way and I can honestly say that there has never been a dull moment.
