Greyfrairs Bobby, an iconic statue in Edinburgh with a significant story behind it. Bobby was a long-haired Skye terrier that belonged to John Gray, an Edinburgh policeman. Gray and Bobby were best friends until the officer passed away from tuberculosis in 1858. When Gray was buried in Greyfriars Cemetery, Bobby accompanied his friend and lived for the 14 years in the Cemetery, next to his owner's grave. His loyalty to his owner became famous in Edinburgh! In 1872, Bobby was buried not far from Gray's grave.
