Under the $500 million Working for Victoria Fund, displaced workers will be eligible to apply for different types of work. This presents opportunities for paid work and an opportunity to contribute to Victoria’s ability to manage the COVID-19 event and support the community.
The Victorian Government has already helped close to 2,600 workers access new opportunities as part of the Working for Victoria program, which links workers with vital roles in areas like healthcare and other in-demand sectors.
Minister for Industrial Relations Tim Pallas shared, “This support will help people who have fallen through the cracks and redeploy them in the roles our community needs right now”.
Working for Victoria has partnered with Sidekicker to create an online platform to connect employers with workers who have lost their jobs. Employers can register their requirements for talent and connect with candidates who meet their business needs. Workers can use the platform to provide information about their job preferences, skills and experience and receive matching available employment opportunities. You must have Australian working rights to be eligible.
