Love black truffles? They are back in Australia for the winter.
In Melbourne, the black truffle season runs from June until the end of August.
We previously found this robust and fragrant specimen at Black Cat Truffles farm operated Andres and Lynette Haas. The farm is located near Ballarat and the Creswick State Forest.
You can what a regular size version looks like here as well as a whole plate of black truffles.
If you are looking for a few of these black gold nuggets, there is a pop-up stall in Queen Victoria Market I Shed, near the American Doughnut Kitchen. There are fresh black truffles from Gippsland VIC and Manjimup WA and a range of truffle produce sauces, honeys, oil, salts, pastes and gift packs.
